The monologue performed is from the play G'night Mother. Nancy first reads it twice in English, her first langauge as American-Chinese, and performs it in Hoisan, a regional language in Hoisan area in Guangdong, where Nancy's parents come from in late 20th century.
The perforamce explores the nuance in how spoken lanugages, as an essetial component to one's memory and identity, can impact of the expression of emotion.

I went back to Guangzhou during the Spring Festival in 2020 when the Coronavirus outbreak started. For most of the time, I was stuck at home with my parents.
